"Immediatly!"

The way a kid's mind works is a mystery all on it's own...

Take for instance today, when Kylee thought that the word "immediately" was a form name-calling.

I was insisting that it was perhaps unwise to undress in front of the un-blinded, glass back door with the phrase, "Pull your pants up immediately".

What she really heard was: "Pull up your pants... (you) immediately!"

So later that night, when she disagreed with her mother at dinner time about eating two green beans, her yell of  "No!" was accompanied by an under-her-breath whispered, "Immediately."

"What did you call me?" Shannon asked.

"Immediately." She replied boldly. As her interpretation of the word suddenly dawned on us, Shannon and I then laughed very hard while Kylee punctuated her supposedly new-found insult with the kiddie version of flipping someone off: Sticking out her tongue.

We eventually set her straight and helped her understand that the word immediately means right away or now (and not something like nincompoop or pompous winbag).

But the next time someone cuts me off on the road, I just might shout out the window: "Watch where your going, immediately!" and then stick out my tongue.

So there!
